WHAT HAPPENS DURING A HEARING TEST?

First, we need to get to know you! On your first visit you will be greeted by our friendly staff and asked to fill out some forms so we can understand your personal information, medical history and insurance verification.

During the exam, your registered hearing aid practitioner will go over personal hearing information with you and will ask you a few questions to discover the specific types of environments in which you may be experiencing hearing loss and hearing problems.

Then, your registered hearing aid practitioner will look into your ears by using an otoscope. This instrument is pain free and used to see the ear canal and the eardrum to see whether or not there is earwax obstructing the canal. Sometimes the registered hearing aid practitioner will have a video otoscope, so you can see inside your ear as well!

    YOUR HEARING TEST WILL DETERMINE:

    • Whether or not a hearing loss exists
    • The possible cause of hearing loss
    • The degree and type of hearing loss and whether the loss exists in one or both ears
    • The best treatment options

    TYPES OF HEARING TESTS

    Audiometric Test

This test uses a series of low and high frequency tones to determine your ability to understand speech within a short distance. The results will help determine your percentage of hearing loss and ability to understand speech.

    Tympanometry

This test is used to understand the condition of the middle ear and mobility of the eardrum (tympanic membrane) and the conduction bones by creating variations of air pressure in the ear canal.

    YOUR HEARING TEST RESULTS

We will go over what’s called an “audiogram” with you. The audiogram reflects your hearing loss in frequencies and decibels. We will fully explain the type, pattern and degree of hearing loss, as well as the percentage of normal conversational speech that you are still able to hear.

Schedule a hearing test with our trained registered hearing aid practitioners and discover how much more you could be hearing.

Great place to get your hearing tested. I shopped around to ten different places and they had the best prices and the best service.
